Pearl Beach continues to discover Fine Music
!

The inaugural Pearl Classical Music Festival was held over the June long weekend in 1994 and seen at the time to be quite an ambitious venture for the Pearl Beach Progress Association. From the beginning the objective has been to harmonise fine music with the cultural life of Pearl Beach and its unique environment.

Since 1994 the festival has played host to many great and established performers and talented young artists.

Tickets are available for the Saturday and Sunday afternoon concerts commencing at 2.30pm. Saturday afternoon enjoy a performance by The Sydney Omega Ensemble (Trio), who was established in 2005 by its artistic director David Rowden when he and other young musicians sought to redefine Sydney’s classical chamber music landscape. David Pereira returns on Sunday afternoon to enthrall audiences with his magnificent cello playing, accompanied by Tamara Anna Cislowska an outstanding concert pianist and chamber musician.

The two evening performances are sold-out. Saturday evening Slava & Leonard Grigoryan guitar duo and on Sunday evening and returning for the third time renowned musician Simon Tedeschi with highly acclaimed, award winning jazz pianist Kevin Hunt.

Pearl Beach on the road to Discovery; a weekend of Fine Music !

The inaugural festival was held over the June long weekend in 1994 and seen at the time to be quite an ambitious venture for the Pearl Beach Progress Association. From the beginning the objective has been to harmonise fine music with the cultural life of Pearl Beach and its unique environment.

Since 1994 the festival has played host to many great and established performers and talented young artists. The earliest players, Charmian Gadd & Friends, Sydney Brass Quintet, Sydney Wind Quintet and the Pergolesi Players set a high standard of performance for all following to emulate. Many have returned and all comment that the Memorial Hall is an ideal venue with its intimate atmosphere and excellent acoustics.

Roger Murray, President of the Pearl Beach Progress Association invites the community and friends to the Pearl Beach Music Festival – “to celebrate its 20th concert series in 2013”, and continues. “This is a huge and consistent commitment by the Pearl Beach Community to the arts. The Festival also continues to be an occasion that brings our community together to enjoy great music.”

Opening the Festival this year is, The Sydney Omega Ensemble (Trio), three young musicians who redefine Sydney’s classical chamber music landscape.

The Grigoryan Brothers, guitar duo who astound audiences by their virtuosity, making it a night to remember.

David Pereira returns to enthrall audiences with his magnificent cello playing. Accompanied by an outstanding concert pianist, Tamara Anna Cislowska.

The finale, and returning for the third time is Simon Tedeschi this time with jazz pianist Kevin Hunt. Two Pianos will perform an exhilarating program from Bach to Brubeck.

MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP CONCERT

Six senior students from the Central Coast Conservatorium will compete for two scholarships awarded by the Pearl Beach Progress Association.

The winner of the Irvine Family Piano Scholarship will perform at the concert on the Kawai piano donated by the Irvine Family in memory of Alex and Helen Irvine who were among the earliest Pearl Beach settlers.

We would like to invite you to the launch of the 20th Music Festival June Long Weekend Classical Concert series with a community tasting of the wines on Friday 22nd March from 5pm to 7pm. At the tasting the Music Festival Ticket sales will be launched, including the ‘Early Bird” ticket package, and the wines will be available for ordering. Deadline for orders is Wednesday 17th April.

Entertainment will be provided by students from the Central Coast Conservatorium, and it promises to be a great evening. Cost is $10 per person and proceeds from the evening and the wine sales will go to the association.
