INVITATION

To attend a Community Forum on the Pearl Beach Lagoon

When: Saturday 19 May
Time: 2-4pm
Where: Pearl Beach Memorial Hall

The Pearl Beach Lagoon remains hidden to many people but it is a pivotal part ofthe environmental balance for Pearl Beach. Unfortunately years of misunderstanding and abuse of the Lagoon and its surrounds threatens its long-term survival.

We are delighted that there is a to be proper Management Plan developed for the Lagoon. This will be an extensive process and will form the basis for all future action around the Lagoon. It means action can be based on fact not opinion or emotions.

The Management Plan is an initiative of the Gosford Council and is to be prepared by BMT WBM over the next 10 months. It has the support of the Pearl Beach Progress Association and Pearl Beach Bushcare. It is essential that all members of the Community get involved to get this right.

The Rotary Club of Woy Woy will be making a Community Award to Lynne Lillico on the 15th May in appreciation of her work and support of the Pearl Beach community. As we are all aware, Lynne has worked on many Pearl Beach activities over the years, resulting in great benefit to the local community and improvements to the hall.

The awards night will be held at the Everglades Country Club on the 15th May at 6.30 for 7.00. There will be a 2 course meal served at $20.00 per person with drinks at your own cost. It would be great if members of the community could attend the presentation in honour of Lynne. If they could let me know whether they are able to attend by Sunday the 13th, we will advise the restaurant on the numbers for catering purposes.

Please be aware be aware in the last 8 weeks we have had an alarming increase in house break ins, car thefts and car break ins. Please observe and report to the above phone numbers any suspicious behaviour.

Here are some quick and easy ways to protect your home from potential break-and-enter offenders

* Secure your home, garage and sheds with quality locks Always lock up valuables and equipment. Consider installing a high quality alarm.

* Don’t give burglars a place to hide Keep plants trimmed and avoid solid fences so that your doors and windows are visible from the street

* Make sure your valuables aren’t visible Conceal valuables such as wallets, keys and computers, so they’re not visible from the outside.

* Lock up outside Lock all gates. Repair holes in fences that provide access to your property. Lock your electricity meter box to prevent tampering with your alarm or lighting.

* Always lock up when you leave Always lock accessible doors and windows even if you’re just going out for a few minutes. Never leave fire doors, balcony doors, garage doors or other doors open.

* Avoid leaving natural ladders around your property Remove items that can be climbed to access second storey balconies and windows.
