The Pearl Beach Lagoon remains hidden to many people but it is a pivotal part ofthe environmental balance for Pearl Beach. Unfortunately years of misunderstanding and abuse of the Lagoon and its surrounds threatens its long-term survival.

We are delighted that there is a to be proper Management Plan developed for the Lagoon. This will be an extensive process and will form the basis for all future action around the Lagoon. It means action can be based on fact not opinion or emotions.

The Management Plan is an initiative of the Gosford Council and is to be prepared by BMT WBM over the next 10 months. It has the support of the Pearl Beach Progress Association and Pearl Beach Bushcare. It is essential that all members of the Community get involved to get this right.

The 2012 festival is set to be a winner …

Ticket sales have exceeded expectations with two of the four concerts already sold-out. Limited number of seats available for the 2.30 Saturday afternoon concert, and the 7.30 Sunday evening concert. Book now, 4343 1455 don’t miss out !!!

The awards night will be held at the Everglades Country Club on the 15th May at 6.30 for 7.00. There will be a 2 course meal served at $20.00 per person with drinks at your own cost. It would be great if members of the community could attend the presentation in honour of Lynne. If they could let me know whether they are able to attend by Sunday the 13th, we will advise the restaurant on the numbers for catering purposes.

The scheduled Bushcare meeting on Saturday has been postponed to Saturday 12th May owing to the heavy involvement of Pearl Beach Bushcarers in the Bee Workshop from 1000 to 1200 at the Progress Hall this coming Saturday 5th May.

On Saturday 12th May we will meet at the beachside carpark at the end of Agate St. We will undertake some planting at the Lagoon using stock of acacia etc supplied by Council – thanks Anna- and also finish the long standing job at Nth Coral Crescent.

The twist in this year’s festival is the joining of classical music with jazz and musical theatre. Now in its 19th year, the June long weekend music festival concert is once again bringing some of Australia’s and the world’s top artists to the Memorial Hall to present a variety of vocal and orchestral music. A special three concert package is being offered and at $100 each tickets are selling fast. Don’t miss out on this amazing weekend of exciting music.

Opening the festival at 2.30 on Saturday, Musica Viva is delighted to bring to the festival a young quartet on the threshold of an illustrious career. The Enigma String Quartet Sydney are formed from the cream of the classical collective, and offers the highest caliber musicianship and presentation for the discerning audience. They will perform their “Outback Adventure” featuring works by Mozart, Sculthorpe and Janacek.

Saturday evening at 7.30pm renowned pianist Simon Tedeschi, is back by popular demand and with virtuoso violinist Ian Cooper who are now collaborating in a joyous and dynamic journey of musical wizardry. They will perform a selection from the greatest classical repertoire as well as improvise over the coolest jazz, enjoy this journey from Greig to Gershwin.

The concert package concludes on Sunday evening at 7.30pm . “Romancing the Night”, a journey through most popular classical music and love songs. Australia’s Flute Queen, Jane Rutter, whose charismatic and passionate performance style, and technical excellence delights audiences everywhere, returns to the Music Festival and will combine with Peter Cousens, one of Australia’s most outstanding musical theatre performers among his starring roles were Phantom of the Opera, and Les Miserables, will make this an incredible performance
